Beaches Parks & Attractions Mayan Ruins Towns Golf Fishing Xcaret Eco Theme Park (website): located near Playa Del Carmen, this cultural experience is set by the
sea with so many activities, you can spend more than one day exploring.
Orchids gardens, butterfly park, Papantla Flying Men, pumas, jaguars, tapir and spider
monkeys were all very neat to see and observe.
There is a Coral Reef Aquarium area, where there’s even the opportunity
to touch some sea life. Wait until you see the sea turtles here - enormous! View a manatee
feeding and and get an up close look at these “sea cows” and dolphins too.
There is St. Francis of Assissi Chapel on the hill overlooking the sea and a
unique Mexican cemetery “Bridge to Paradise.” To view a panorama of the entire
area, go up in the Rotating Scenic Tower ride where you can see Cozumel, all of
Playa Del Carmen and then on to the south. In the evening, the show “Mexico Espectacular”
is a must. With over 300 performers, the show takes you from ancient Mexico to
present day, starting with the historic ball games to the Spanish conquest, all
the way to festivals of modern dance and entertainment. It features horses,
stunts, singing – non-stop action and beautiful costumes! Xcaret also offers a
swim with the dolphins experience, snuba and the new Xplor ziplines. Various
entrance packages are available that include meals as well. Hidden Worlds (website): located 2 miles south of Chan Chemuyil, this adventure park offers many activities that you can not find at other attractions. They have the new roller coaster zipline - Avatar, sky cycle, zip lines, repelling down into a cave cenote, a splash down zip line into a cenote, cave snorkeling, 3 monkeys and an array of other wildlife. The owner has invented and is getting the patents for the Sky Cycle. Currently Hidden Worlds is the only place in the world where you can do this - it's a cycling version of the sky rides found in the major parks... except you are in control of your own movement by peddling. They have several different packages to choose from and kids under 40 inches are free. ![]() Xel- Ha (website): just 1.5 miles south of Chan Chemuyil, this open sea aquarium offers land and water activities, ecological attractions and restaurants. Enjoy snorkeling in the lagoon and a lazy river tube ride where you can jump off the cliff of courage and walk the tight rope lines. Definitely take the train to the top of the river. There is also a dolphin swim program and snuba available. pics coming soon - place holder. ![]() ![]() Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve: drive south of Tulum through the arches on the beach road and you will find this Mexican national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at CesiAK, a small ecotourism and education center where you can sign up for tours in the Sian Ka’an.
